Metallic Coating for Bar Top

Metallic Coating for Bar Top

There is a brand new Sports Bar & Grill is opening very soon in Tucson. They are called Monsoons Tap & Grill and are located at 6781 N Thornydale (a block south of Ina near Costco).  One of the two owners is Adam Romero.

After meeting with Adam, I was pretty sure of the look he was after. Being that the bar is near the University of Arizona,  Adam wanted a Wild Cat Color and he wanted the top to reflect the name of the bar, he wanted it to look a bit like a monsoon. I suggested making a few sample boards to ensure we deliver what I said I could. Adam loved the samples and hired Outdoor Creations to apply a metallic coating onto his newly built bar tops.

The products used were Epoxy for both primer and finish coats. Arizona Polymer Flooring supplied the epoxy. Preferred Deck was our supplier for the metallic coloring.  Once the bar was built, I applied the blue metallic epoxy coating to the surface.  Then denatured alcohol was used to disperse and drag the metal pigments throughout the epoxy.   Finally a sealant was applied.

This bar top is both beautiful and will be easy to maintain.

If you are in the area, stop in and say hello.

Update:  I am happy to report that Monsoons is doing good.  I am happy to support a local Tucson business.  I would hope that it is the beautiful U. of A. blue, epoxy metallic bar that has customers coming back.  Unfortunately, I think it is probably not the case.  Maybe it is the beautiful bar and the great selection of beers, good food and great service.   I understand that they have a great patio atmosphere also.
